Elden Ring: Nightreign will remove an iconic feature of the last game. Why won't players be able to leave messages?

Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the "leave a message" feature found in previous FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. Nightreign matches last approximately forty minutes, leaving insufficient time for players to write or read messages.

"Given the roughly forty-minute session length, there's not enough time to send or read messages, so we disabled the feature," Ishizaki stated.

This choice is noteworthy, considering the significant role message-based interaction has played in past FromSoftware games, enhancing player engagement and interactivity. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign.

To maintain respect for the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate storyline. The game promises a fresh adventure with unique challenges and encounters, while retaining the distinctive atmosphere and complexity of the Elden Ring world.
