Fallout 76 Season 20: Embrace Your Inner Ghoul
Fallout 76's Season 20, "The Ghoul Within," has arrived, transforming Appalachia into a ghoul-infested playground. This update lets you become a ghoul, complete with unique abilities, perks, and cosmetics to customize your C.A.M.P.
Unleash Your Inner Ghoul
The "Leap of Faith" questline unlocks Ghoulification, transporting you to a new area of the Savage Divide where you'll meet characters aiding your transformation. As a ghoul, you gain exclusive abilities:
- Glow: Consume radiation, becoming immune to diseases and mutations, glowing brightly, and boosting your health regeneration. Glow also contributes to "Gherks"—Ghoul-exclusive perks.
- Feral: Replaces hunger and thirst with a Feral meter. Higher percentages offer various stat boosts, but depleting it to 0% unleashes a powerful, albeit risky, melee damage increase at the cost of significant stat penalties (including massive reductions to HP, AP, and accuracy).
You'll also gain access to 30 Gherks and 2 new legendary perks. Note that perks related to hunger, thirst, and chem resistance are unavailable to ghouls.
A Ghoul's Life in Appalachia
While your new abilities make navigating the irradiated wasteland easier, your ghoul status might create friction. The Brotherhood of Steel, for instance, becomes hostile, potentially locking you out of certain quests. Fear not! A new NPC, Jaye, provides disguises to bypass these restrictions.
Should you tire of ghoul life, you can revert to human form via the Character Screen. However, this is a one-way trip; re-ghoulification requires purchasing Ghoul Retransformation for 1000 Atoms.
Level 50 Character Boost and Patch Notes
Season 20 also introduces a Level 50 Character Boost (1500 Atoms), providing a head start for new and veteran players alike. This boost unlocks access to Daily Ops, Public Events, and various story content.
The patch includes numerous bug fixes and balance adjustments, encompassing accessibility improvements, combat balancing, weapon damage tweaks, and more. Bethesda also highlights their upcoming "The Big Bloom" update slated for April 29th.
Fallout 76's Journey
Initially launched in November 2018 with a rocky reception, Fallout 76 has significantly improved through consistent updates. Currently boasting a "Mostly Positive" rating (76%) on Steam, the game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
