Fortnite reverses its controversial decision about one of the skins

The iconic Master Chief, the face (albeit a helmeted one) of the Halo franchise, enjoys considerable popularity as a Fortnite skin. His return to the item shop after a two-year hiatus was met with enthusiasm, but a small detail soured the celebration.

Initially, an exclusive Matte Black style was offered to players using Xbox Series S|X consoles. For a period, Epic Games advertised this style as permanently obtainable. The subsequent announcement of its removal caused significant backlash.

Some players even considered legal action, threatening a class-action lawsuit, believing the change violated terms and conditions. However, Epic Games quickly reversed course within 24 hours. The Matte Black style is now available to all Master Chief skin owners who play a single match on an Xbox Series S|X console.

This reversal seems the most sensible outcome. Given the holiday season and Christmas celebrations, such a controversial move would have been poorly received.
