GTA 6: S-Tier Potential? Ranking All Rockstar Games

by Nathan May 16,2025

The excitement for the new GTA 6 trailer is palpable, and if you missed it, we've broken down all the secrets and details for you. Unfortunately, we'll need to wait until May 26, 2026, to dive into Lucia and Jason's story. In the meantime, let's take a nostalgic trip and rank the Rockstar games we've enjoyed over the years for fun.

Since its inception in 1998, Rockstar has developed and released over 30 games, giving us iconic series like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which one reigns supreme? Note that this list only includes games developed by Rockstar, excluding titles they've published like LA Noire or Max Payne 2. I've ranked them using an IGN Tier List, based purely on my personal enjoyment over the years. Here's my tier list:

Rockstar Games Tier List

Red Dead Redemption 2 tops my list as my all-time favorite, making it an easy S-tier choice. It's joined by its predecessor and GTA 5, both trailblazers in the cinematic open-world genre. I also have a special fondness for Max Payne 3 with its bullet time ballet, and GTA San Andreas, which I played at a way too young age. At the bottom in the D-tier, you'll find games like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!—titles that few would willingly revisit.

Do you disagree with my rankings? Perhaps you believe Vice City outshines GTA 4? Why not create your own tier list and see how your S, A, B, C, and D tiers stack up against the IGN community?

With just two trailers released so far, where do you think GTA 6 will rank once it's fully released? Share your thoughts in the comments, and let us know why you've ranked the games the way you have.
