Bethesda's acclaimed voice actor, Wes Johnson, known for his roles in Skyrim, Fallout 3, Starfield, and numerous other titles, has shared a moving message following a near-fatal incident. Last week, he was found "barely alive" in his Atlanta hotel room, where he was attending a National Alzheimer's Foundation benefit.
A GoFundMe campaign, which has already raised an impressive $174,653 for his medical expenses, features a video message from Johnson himself. He reveals he was in a coma, expressing profound gratitude for the outpouring of support.
"Rumors of my demise were greatly exaggerated," Johnson states in the video. He credits his wife, Kim Johnson, and son for their quick actions in contacting the hotel and ensuring he received immediate medical attention. He was subsequently hospitalized and placed in a medically induced coma for five days.
Johnson expresses heartfelt thanks to numerous individuals and organizations, including the National Alzheimer's Association for supporting his family, Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis for a substantial $25,000 donation, and close friends Bill Glasser and Shari Elliker for establishing the GoFundMe. He also extends his gratitude to Bethesda, who publicly voiced their support, and to his fans for their overwhelming generosity and well wishes.
"I love you all. I'm not going anywhere," Johnson assures his supporters. While acknowledging a long road to recovery lies ahead, he remains optimistic about his return. His extensive voice acting credits span various media, but his contributions to the Bethesda universe are particularly noteworthy, including recent work as Ron Hope in Starfield. Other notable roles include Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance in Oblivion, multiple Daedric Princes in Morrowind, Fawkes and Maister Burke in Fallout 3, Hermaeus Mora and Emperor Titus Mede II in Skyrim, and Moe Cronin in Fallout 4.
