Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack adds two classic F-Zero GBA racing games!
Get ready to experience high-speed futuristic racing with the addition of F-Zero: GP Legend and the Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, launching October 11, 2024!
This exciting announcement brings two beloved titles to a modern audience. F-Zero: GP Legend, initially released in 2003 in Japan and 2004 internationally, and the previously region-locked F-Zero Climax, released in 2004, will finally be playable worldwide.
The F-Zero series, a cornerstone of Nintendo's racing legacy since its 1990 debut, is known for its groundbreaking speed and intense competition. Influencing other racing franchises like SEGA's Daytona USA, F-Zero pushed the boundaries of console technology in its time. The series' signature blend of high-octane racing, track obstacles, and competitive battles with other "F-Zero machines" has captivated players for decades. Captain Falcon, the series' iconic protagonist, even makes appearances in Super Smash Bros.!
F-Zero Climax, the last entry in the series for nearly two decades before the release of F-Zero 99 last year, has been a sought-after title for many. Game designer Takaya Imamura previously cited the popularity of Mario Kart as a contributing factor to the F-Zero series' extended hiatus.
With this October 2024 update, Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers can experience the thrill of F-Zero: GP Legend and F-Zero Climax. Compete in various race modes, including Grand Prix, story modes, and time trials.
