Since its September 2024 launch, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 has consistently received post-launch updates, particularly enhancing its multiplayer experience. For players eager to test upcoming content early, here's how to access the public test server.
How to Access the Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Test Server
Important note: While Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the public test server currently only supports PC players. Access requires modifying game settings through Steam - no complicated procedures needed.
PC players simply need to locate Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 in their Steam library, where the test server appears as a separate listing below the main game. This option only appears for players who own a legitimate copy of the game. After finding the test server, players must download its standalone files - completely separate from the main game installation.
What's Available in the Test Server?

The test server offers experimental content for both PvE and PvP modes, featuring new weapons, adjusted combat mechanics, and expanded customization. Most significant changes currently focus on PvE, including a never-before-seen map, relaxed class weapon restrictions, and core gameplay modifications. Remember, all content remains in development and may undergo substantial changes before official release.
Online matchmaking has received notable improvements for both modes, with enhanced team balancing systems. The PvE matchmaking now prevents duplicate classes within teams and introduces a prestige progression system. PvP lobbies gain additional customization options for improved multiplayer experiences.
Important limitations: Mods from the main game won't function in the test environment. While players can experiment with available assets, any created content won't transfer to the main game since the test server uses a separate build. Currently, no progress or content will carry over to the official release version.
