In *Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii*, you step into the swashbuckling shoes of Goro Majima, the Captain of the Goro Pirates. Your adventure involves recruiting a diverse crew, including the elusive Kraken-Chan and the talented Surfer Jay. Here's how to bring these valuable members aboard your ship.
How to Recruit Surfer Jay in Pirate Yakuza
Surfer Jay, located in Honolulu, is a prime recruit for your crew. His base stats are significantly higher than those of the early members you can enlist in the game. However, recruiting him requires a bit more effort and a specific item from your sea-faring journey. You can attempt this recruitment at any stage, but heading to Madlantis first to retrieve the necessary item will streamline the process.
Upon docking at Madlantis, head towards the tent across from the Madlantis Golf Range, which hosts some of the most entertaining mini-games in *Pirate Yakuza*. Inside, you'll find a UFO Catcher Game with a blue plush known as Kraken-Chan, which Surfer Jay desires. Note that Kraken-Chan might not always be available as a prize. If that's the case, speak to the attendant under the tent and request a prize switch-out for the UFO game machine.
Winning Kraken-Chan from the claw machine can be challenging, much like real-life claw machines. Ensure you have enough cash before you start playing. The best strategy is to maneuver the claw to nudge the plush towards the prize chute, eventually securing it into your inventory. Once you've obtained Kraken-Chan, return to your ship, the Goromaru, and sail back to Honolulu to find Surfer Jay.
In Honolulu, head to the Tropical Coco at the Anaconda Shopping Center. Use your mini-map to locate the pirate member symbol adorned with a bandana and sword, which indicates potential recruits. You'll find Surfer Jay sitting in a garage next to his surfboard. Engage in conversation with him, and he'll open up about his recent heartbreak and relationship woes.
As the conversation unfolds, you'll discover that Kraken-Chan is crucial to resolving Surfer Jay's relationship issues and convincing him to join your crew. When prompted, present the plush to Jay, and he will gratefully accept, becoming a part of the Goro Pirates. Although Surfer Jay doesn't offer exceptional stats or special perks as a First Mate or Boarding Squad Leader, he's a valuable addition for those aiming to complete their crew roster. His dialogue might be vague, but with the right item, you'll successfully recruit him.
And that's the guide to finding Kraken-Chan and recruiting Surfer Jay in *Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii*.
