Switch 2 Super Mario Kart World Bundle
Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle
- $499.99 at Best Buy
Choosing the bundle saves you $30 compared to purchasing the console and game separately. Keep in mind, though, that this bundle offers a digital copy of the game, so if you prefer a physical cartridge and box, you'll need to spend the extra $30.
Yes, the MSRP Is $79.99
When purchased on its own, Mario Kart World retails for $79.99, which is $10 more than the standard price for AAA titles on PlayStation and Xbox this generation. While I'm not thrilled about the price increase between console generations, I understand that game development costs are soaring. Hopefully, the expansive nature of Mario Kart World justifies the higher price tag.
What Is Mario Kart World?
Mario Kart World is poised to be the most ambitious Mario Kart game to date, transforming into an open-world format similar to the Forza Horizon series. In Grand Prix mode, you can seamlessly transition from one race to the next by driving across the expansive world.
The game's tracks are dynamically affected by weather conditions and time of day, influencing visibility and traction. You're not confined to the tracks either; you can drive "virtually everywhere" in the Mushroom Kingdom, as per Nintendo. Each race supports up to 24 drivers, the largest field in any Mario Kart game.
Introducing the Knockout Tour mode, players race across the open world, navigating through checkpoints with specific placement requirements. Falling behind at any checkpoint leads to elimination from the race.
For a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode allows you to explore at your own pace, team up with friends, and capture memorable moments with photos.
More details about Mario Kart World will be revealed during the Nintendo Direct on April 17. In the meantime, dive into our hands-on preview for more insights.
