Whenever I write about Kemco, I find it both invariably welcome and fairly predictable. Their releases of JRPGs tend to be high-quality, yet often hit those high-fantasy, melodramatic notes. But their newest upcoming release, Metro Quester, caught my eye for how it defies those conventions, and it's set to launch on April 21st, with pre-registration now open!
In Metro Quester, you'll dive into a dungeon-crawling RPG with a unique twist. Instead of exploring above ground and wandering into ruins, you'll navigate a post-apocalyptic, Glukhovsky-esque future, trapped underground in the ancient metro lines of a bygone era.
This game, developed by Thousand Games, promises to immerse you in dense dungeons of ancient metros and pre-apocalyptic ruins. With character designs from Kazushi Hagiwara, renowned for works like Bastard!! The Dark God of Destruction, and contributions from other talented artists, you can expect a high-quality, albeit dark and gloomy world to explore.
Kemco stands outI was genuinely thrilled to see Metro Quester in my inbox. This title promises to be a standout in Kemco's catalogue, blending a dark world with retro top-down dungeon crawling. If you're concerned about content, how do 24 characters, 8 classes, customizable weapons, a comprehensive bestiary, and more sound?
Admittedly, Metro Quester retains that familiar anime style. However, I believe few will find this objectionable. So, if you're seeking something new and intriguing to enhance your JRPG obsession, mark your calendar for when Metro Quester hits storefronts on April 21st!
