Player First Games has announced that MultiVersus Season 5 will be the final season for the Warner Bros. platform fighting game, concluding service on May 30, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST.
The decision to end support was shared in an official blog post on the game’s website. MultiVersus, which launched on May 28, 2024, will kick off Season 5 on February 4, 2025, and continue until its shutdown date. At that point, online functionality will be discontinued. However, Player First Games has confirmed that all content players have earned or purchased will remain accessible offline through local gameplay and training modes.
“We want to extend our deepest gratitude to every player and supporter of MultiVersus,” the development team shared. “Everyone at Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games has given their all to this project. We’re incredibly thankful for the unwavering support from the MultiVersus community throughout this journey.”

As of today, real-money purchases within MultiVersus are no longer available. However, players can continue to use existing Gleamium and character tokens to unlock in-game content until the service ends. The game will also be removed from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store on May 30, 2025.
This announcement follows reports of MultiVersus underperforming commercially, contributing to a significant financial impact on Warner Bros. Discovery. During a November earnings call, the company disclosed a $100 million writedown tied primarily to MultiVersus, bringing the total games division writedown for the year to over $300 million—further amplified by the launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in January. Recent industry reports also confirmed that Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad is departing the company after a challenging 2024.
"We recorded another $100 million plus impairment due to underperforming releases, primarily MultiVersus this quarter, bringing total writedown year-to-date to over $300 million in our games business, a key factor in this year’s studio profit decline,” said CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels during the November financial update.
Despite the game’s closure coming just after its one-year anniversary, Season 5 aims to deliver a memorable farewell. Alongside standard seasonal content updates, two new playable characters—Lola Bunny and Aquaman—will join the roster starting February 4. Lola Bunny will be unlockable as a daily calendar reward, while Aquaman will be available through the season’s battle pass.
