If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news on a potential Part 3, prepare for some disheartening news. Neil Druckmann, the mastermind behind the series, has recently poured cold water on any hopes of a third installment. In a comprehensive interview with Variety focused primarily on the upcoming *The Last of Us* TV series, Druckmann was directly asked about the possibility of *The Last of Us Part 3*. His response was unequivocal and sobering:
“I was waiting for this question,” he remarked with a sigh. “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”
The question now is whether to take Druckmann at his word. Currently, Naughty Dog is deeply engaged in developing *Intergalactic*, a project unveiled at The Game Awards last December. Given the absence of a release window, it's clear that *Intergalactic* is years away from completion. With the studio's focus firmly set on exploring space, the likelihood of them diverting resources to *The Last of Us Part 3* anytime soon seems slim. Druckmann might be playing it close to the vest, or perhaps he's genuinely not ready to commit. Only time will tell if his stance changes or if he's truly finished with the series.
For fans still hungry for more *The Last of Us*, the television series offers a glimmer of hope. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann remains uncertain about how many seasons will be needed to fully adapt the story of Part 2, an HBO executive suggested in February that four seasons might be the ideal number to complete the narrative arc.
