Nintendo has officially confirmed that players can utilize the Switch 2 Joy-Con mouse controls on the Home screen, adding a new layer of interaction to the console. Ever since the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, fans have been buzzing with excitement about the potential of the new Joy-Con's mouse controls. Last month, we received the official confirmation that the Joy-Con can operate in "mouse mode," allowing players to slide the controllers across surfaces and use the analog sticks to simulate left-click and right-click functions, much like a standard mouse. Additionally, two Joy-Con can be used in mouse mode simultaneously, one in each hand, or one in standard mode with the other in mouse mode, offering versatile control options.
And now, even more details have surfaced. As demonstrated on the Nintendo Today app and shared on X/Twitter, the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls extend to navigating the Home menu on the Switch 2.

If you "place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, a cursor will appear on screen," Nintendo explained. "To display the cursor, set the Joy-Con 2 on a table or flat surface and move it as shown.
"While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus," Nintendo added, "[and] use mouse controls on the Home menu and in compatible software." When you're ready to revert to using the thumbstick, simply move the Joy-Con 2 into a horizontal position again.
While the full list of mouse-compliant games remains undisclosed, Nintendo has showcased the technology working seamlessly with the Switch 2 editions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, as well as the wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is set to debut on June 5. Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders began on April 24, with the price set at $449.99 — and they sold out quickly. For more information, check out IGN's Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.
