Pokemon TCG Pocket Sleep Status Explained

by Hazel Feb 28,2025

In Pokémon TCG Pocket, Sleep is a debilitating status condition. This guide explains what it does, how to cure it, and which cards inflict it.

Understanding Sleep in Pokémon TCG Pocket

Sleep renders a Pokémon unable to attack, use abilities, or retreat. An afflicted Pokémon becomes a vulnerable target.

Curing Sleep

There are three primary ways to wake a sleeping Pokémon:

  1. Coin Toss: Each turn, a coin toss determines if the Pokémon awakens. This is a chance-based method.
  2. Evolution: Evolving a sleeping Pokémon cures the Sleep condition.
  3. Koga Trainer Card: This card specifically allows you to return a sleeping Weezing or Muk to your hand.

The coin toss method's reliance on chance can be detrimental, potentially leaving your Pokémon incapacitated for multiple turns while your opponent advances. Strategic bench management and planning for alternative attackers are crucial.

Sleep-Inducing Cards

Eight cards currently inflict the Sleep status:

Hypno's Strategic Advantage

Hypno stands out due to its ability to inflict Sleep from the bench, without energy requirements, making it a potent support card for Psychic decks. Its synergy with powerful attackers like Mewtwo ex and Gardevoir is particularly effective. While other Sleep-inducing cards have merit, Hypno maintains competitive viability without hindering overall strategy.
