Pokémon TCG Pocket previews new trading feature and gives fresh details on implementation

by Alexander Mar 22,2025

Pokémon TCG Pocket is adding a highly anticipated trading system, bringing the thrill of real-life card swapping to the digital world. Launching later this month, this feature will let you trade cards with friends, adding a new layer of social interaction to the game.

One of the key aspects of physical TCGs is the social element of trading. Pokémon TCG Pocket aims to replicate this experience with its new trading feature. However, there are some important details to keep in mind. Trading is currently limited to cards of the same rarity (1 to 4 stars) and only between friends. Additionally, cards must be consumed during the trade; you won't keep a copy after trading.

The developers plan to monitor the system's performance closely after launch and make adjustments as needed. This iterative approach suggests a commitment to refining the trading experience based on player feedback.

While some limitations exist—like restrictions on tradable rarity tiers and potential consumable currency requirements—the implementation shows a thoughtful approach to introducing this complex feature. The team's commitment to post-launch adjustments is reassuring. We anticipate further clarification on these points closer to the release date.
