A Record-Breaking Unboxing Livestream

On November 26, 2024, The Pokémon Company International shattered the Guinness World Record for the longest unboxing livestream, celebrating the launch of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion.

The 24-hour Twitch livestream featured prominent internet personalities including Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv. This trio opened over 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products, resulting in an estimated 20,000+ cards, as reported by the official Pokémon press release.

Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his excitement, stating, “It's been an incredible 24 hours, and we're thrilled to have achieved this ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title.”

The event concluded, but the celebrations continue! The Pokémon press release promises additional giveaways on participating content creators' channels within the next two weeks. The amassed cards will be organized and donated to charities, including Barnardo’s in the UK, before the holidays.

Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks Launch

Released November 8, 2024, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks transports players to the Terarium, a key location in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk. This expansion introduces Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, such as the defensively powerful Archaludon ex.

Iconic dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex also feature prominently. Tropical-themed Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare cards, including Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas, evoke "calming ocean waves and a balmy breeze." New Tera Pokémon ex, like Pallossand ex and Flygon ex, add exciting options for TCG players.

The expansion is also available digitally via the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering in-game bonuses for collecting and battling with the new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
