According to Remedy's latest annual report, the much-anticipated sequel, Control 2, has successfully navigated through its concept validation stage and is now in full production. This milestone marks a significant step forward in the project's development, confirming its progression toward completion.
In addition to Control 2, two other exciting projects are actively being developed: FBC: Firebreak and the remakes of Max Payne 1+2. Just a year ago, these games were in the preparatory phase, but they have now advanced to the next stage of development. However, it's worth noting that the project Kestrel, which was being developed in collaboration with Tencent, has been removed from Remedy's plans following its cancellation in May of the previous year.
All these projects are being crafted using Remedy's proprietary engine, Northlight, which has already demonstrated its prowess in titles like Alan Wake 2 and other Remedy creations.
In terms of budget, Control 2 is set to have a substantial investment of 50 million euros. The game will be self-published by Remedy and is slated for release on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC platforms. On the other hand, FBC: Firebreak comes with a slightly more modest budget of 30 million euros. This project will be accessible through PlayStation and Xbox subscription services at launch, as well as on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The remakes of Max Payne 1+2 remain shrouded in mystery regarding their budget, but they are confirmed to be AAA-level games. Both development and marketing costs for these remakes are fully covered by Rockstar Games.
