- Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon is set to leave Netflix Games
- The move was announced by developer Yacht Club Games who confirmed they were exploring their options
- It will still remain available on other platforms like Steam and Switch
Well, it seems inevitable that, after the good news earlier this month that Squid Game: Unleashed would be free to all players, we have some bad to go with Netflix Games' good so far. And that's because Yacht Club's Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon is sadly set to leave the service.
The move was confirmed by the developers on Twitter, who also clarified that Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon would still remain available on Switch, Steam and PlayStation 4. However, I'm sure that's cold comfort for those of you who leapt into it via Netflix in the first place.
But there is a silver lining to this cloud, as Yacht Club has also confirmed they're exploring further options. I'd hazard a guess that a proper mobile release independent of Netflix is on the cards but at the same time, I wouldn't hold my breath for it being imminent.

The removal of Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon is a sad but poignant reminder of the one risk that subscription gaming services have. Which is that you have even less ownership of something than you do elsewhere in the digital age, and that when these removals happen you're basically beholden to the developer to ensure that it comes back in some form.
I'm sure Yacht Club Games have open options, barring something like a non-compete clause after leaving Netflix Games. So we'll keep our eyes open for a potential return sometime in 2025.
In the meantime, if you need something to play there are still plenty of options out there. Take a gander at our latest list of the top five new mobile games to try this week to see more!
