Sony PlayStation State of Play Scheduled for Next Week

by Lily Apr 09,2025

Sony is gearing up for its customary February PlayStation State of Play broadcast, rumored to take place during Valentine's Day week (February 10 to 14). The leak comes from NateTheHate, who previously accurately predicted the reveal date for Nintendo's Switch 2.

As speculation mounts, let's consider what Sony might showcase at this year's event. Sony has several first-party titles slated for 2025, including Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei. Fans might get a glimpse of gameplay and a solid release date for this anticipated title.

Bungie's PvP extraction shooter, Marathon, could also make an appearance, especially if it's nearing open playtesting. Additionally, Haven Studios' debut game, Fairgames, Naughty Dog's new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine are all on the radar. A fresh trailer for Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, set for 2025, seems particularly likely.

However, don't expect to see the recently canceled live service games from Sony. Last month, Sony axed two unannounced projects—one from Bend Studio and a live-service God of War game from Bluepoint Games. On the other hand, Guerrilla Games' live service Horizon project reportedly survived the cuts, and this State of Play could be the perfect stage for its reveal.

Moving to third-party announcements, Hideo Kojima's Physint, an upcoming stealth-action PlayStation exclusive, might be a bit premature for a showcase. In contrast, Phantom Blade Zero, a hack-and-slash action RPG from S-Game, seems more probable.

With Microsoft now publishing games on PlayStation, there's buzz about potential announcements like a release date for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5. Could Microsoft also use the State of Play to announce Halo on PlayStation? It's a possibility.

Reflecting on last year's State of Play, which featured titles like Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, the Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic x Shadow Generations, various Silent Hill projects, Ken Levine's Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2, we can anticipate a similarly exciting lineup this year.
