This guide details the "Just Like the Good Old Days" main mission in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Note that the mission preceding this one varies based on choices made in "Wishful Thinking." This mission follows either "To the Last Drop of Blood" or "Law and Order," both concluding with an escape from SIRCAA.

1. Locating Professor Lodochka at Wild Island

Travel to the mission marker on Wild Island, leading you to Professor Lodochka at Quite's Camp. Expect an immediate encounter with mercenaries; mission markers will highlight their positions. Well-equipped players will have a significant advantage as further encounters are inevitable. Eliminate the mercenaries to proceed to Lodochka's location. This will unlock the optional objective: activating the ventilation system.

2. (Optional) Restoring the Ventilation System

To complete this optional objective, locate the marked fuse on your map. Once acquired, a new marker will appear, directing you to the engineering rooms. Be prepared for an invisible enemy within the shelter. Navigate the passageways to the engine room, use the fuse to restore power, and continue the mission. While not offering unique rewards, completing this step simplifies subsequent tasks.

3. Discovering the Signal's Source

Before proceeding, consider acquiring better weaponry. The next phase presents significant challenges. Enter the marked cave near the water's edge. Navigate the caverns westward, descending and traversing various obstacles. Utilize a broken pipe to reach higher cave levels.

Locate the large, cone-shaped spire and retrieve the emitter from the marked point beside it. Another invisible enemy awaits on your return journey. Finally, report back to Professor Lodochka to complete the mission, unlocking "Hornet's Nest" as the next main objective.
