Stardew Valley's Crystalarium: A Gem-Growing Guide
Stardew Valley offers more than just farming; shrewd players seek valuable resources like gemstones for profit and gifting. While mining for rare gems can be time-consuming, the Crystalarium provides a solution. This remarkable device replicates gemstones and minerals, significantly boosting your wealth. This guide details how to obtain and utilize this valuable asset, updated for the latest game version (1.6).
Acquiring a Crystalarium
Unlocking the Crystalarium recipe requires reaching Mining Level 9. The crafting ingredients are:
- 99 Stone: Easily found by breaking rocks.
- 5 Gold Bars: Smelt Gold Ore (found at mine levels 80 and below) using a Furnace and Coal.
- 2 Iridium Bars: Obtain Iridium Ore from Skull Cavern or the Statue of Perfection, then smelt it.
- 1 Battery Pack: Collect these from a Lightning Rod struck by lightning during a thunderstorm.
Alternatively, obtain a Crystalarium by:
- Completing the 25,000g Community Center bundle in the Vault.
- Donating at least 50 minerals (gemstones or geodes) to the Museum.
Using the Crystalarium
Place your Crystalarium anywhere – indoors or outdoors. The Quarry is a popular choice for large-scale gem production.
The Crystalarium replicates any mineral or gemstone (excluding Prismatic Shards). Quartz has the shortest growth time but low value. Diamonds offer the highest return despite a 5-day growth period.
To relocate or change the gem type: use an axe or pickaxe to retrieve the Crystalarium. A gem being replicated will drop. To switch gems, simply interact with the Crystalarium while holding the desired gemstone; the old gem will be ejected.
Maximize your profits by strategically using the Crystalarium, and remember that Diamonds make excellent gifts for Pelican Town's residents!
