Which Starter Pack Packs First? Dialga or Palkia in Pokemon TCG

by Savannah Feb 20,2025

The Pokémon TCG Pocket Space-Time Smackdown booster packs have arrived, promising a meta shakeup. Unlike the Mythical Island release, players must choose between Dialga and Palkia packs.

Determining Pack Contents

The Space-Time Smackdown set offers two distinct packs: one featuring Dialga, the other Palkia. Card availability differs slightly between packs, similar to the Genetic Apex set. Detailed card lists and pull probabilities are available under "Offering Rates" at the bottom-left of the pack selection screen. Hover over a pack and select "Offering Rates" to view its contents.

Dialga or Palkia: Strategic Pack Selection

Optimal pack choice depends on your goals. Focus on the pack containing your favorite Pokémon, or prioritize meta-relevant cards for competitive battles.

Dialga Pack Highlights

Dialga packs boast key EX cards: Dialga EX, Yanmega EX, Gallade EX, and Darkrai EX. Players building decks around these should prioritize Dialga packs. These packs also exclusively feature certain illustration rares and Trainer cards, including Dawn and Volkner support cards, and Bidoof.

Palkia Pack Highlights

Palkia packs contain Palkia EX, along with Lickilicky EX, Weavile EX, and Mismagius EX. While perhaps less immediately meta-defining than the Dialga options, these cards offer potential for unique deck building. Exclusive Supporter cards include Mars and Cynthia.

The Verdict: Which Pack to Choose First?

Dialga packs offer stronger competitive potential due to their high-power EX cards. However, Palkia packs provide powerful Supporter cards for alternative strategies. Ultimately, prioritize the pack containing your most sought-after cards. Save Pack Hourglasses and Pack Points to complete your collection.

Pokémon TCG Pocket is available now on mobile devices.
