Stellar Blade DRM and Region Lock Issues Addressed Ahead of PC Release
Stellar Blade's developer, SHIFT UP, has proactively addressed fan concerns about the game's Digital Rights Management (DRM) and region lock issues as the PC release approaches. Understanding how DRM impacts gameplay and what steps are being taken to resolve region lock concerns is crucial for fans eagerly awaiting the game's launch.

SHIFT UP Addressed DRM Concerns
With the upcoming PC release of Stellar Blade, SHIFT UP has taken to social media to clarify the use of Denuvo, a DRM solution known for its anti-tamper technology designed to prevent game piracy. On May 17, via a Twitter (X) post, SHIFT UP reassured fans that "DRM has been hard tuned to maintain the same average frame rate, with even higher minimum frames in some cases."
Denuvo has long been a contentious issue in the gaming community due to its reported impact on game performance. SHIFT UP, however, shared detailed test results showing negligible differences in performance metrics such as average framerate, minimum framerate, maximum framerate, 1% low framerate, and 0.1% low framerate, whether the DRM was active or not.
Moreover, Stellar Blade will fully support modding, a feature often restricted in games with DRM. The developer's transparency has been well-received, although some fans still advocate for the complete removal of Denuvo to enhance the game's accessibility and performance.
Region Lock Issues
Another significant concern surrounding Stellar Blade's PC release involves region lock issues linked to the PlayStation Network (PSN). Despite the game not requiring a PSN connection, certain regions globally will be unable to access it due to PSN's limited support in over 130 countries.
SHIFT UP is actively working on this issue, stating they are "closely discussing the region lock issue with the publisher and are doing our BEST to resolve most of it as soon as possible." They have assured fans that both the PC and PS5 versions will offer identical content, ensuring that early buyers won't be disadvantaged by future updates.
While fans appreciate SHIFT UP's efforts to address these concerns, there remains a desire for a game free from DRM and PSN-related restrictions. Stellar Blade is slated for release on PC via Steam on June 11. Stay tuned for more updates by checking our related articles.
