Stellar Blade, the action-packed game developed by Shift Up and published by PlayStation, is set to receive a fully-fledged sequel. Launched in April 2024, the game received positive feedback from players who appreciated its unique blend of gameplay elements reminiscent of NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Shift Up, the Korean developer behind Stellar Blade, has officially announced the sequel through a chart detailing the company's future plans, which was part of their latest financial results released today. The chart indicates that the Stellar Blade sequel is slated for release before 2027, positioning it as the next major project for the studio.
Prior to the sequel's arrival, Shift Up plans to expand the Stellar Blade platform, which is likely referring to the game's upcoming PC version scheduled for release on June 11, 2025. During this development period, Shift Up will also launch Project Witches, a new multiplatform action RPG that has yet to be fully unveiled.

Earlier this week, Shift Up addressed a PC region lock issue with Sony, which had previously blocked the game's store page on Steam in over 100 countries. They are actively working to resolve this matter.
In IGN's review of Stellar Blade, the game was praised for its impressive action elements, drawing heavily on the combat system inspired by Sekiro. However, the review also pointed out some shortcomings, such as a lack of depth in the story and characters, and poorly implemented RPG elements, including repetitive sidequests that do not add much to the overall experience. Despite these weaknesses, the game's combat and exploration aspects were highlighted as significant strengths, offering players a deep and engaging gameplay experience.
