With less than a month to go before the much-anticipated launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, the gaming industry is abuzz with speculation about pricing, tariffs, and game key cards. Amid this excitement, Take-Two Interactive, a prominent third-party publisher, has expressed a high level of confidence in the new console. During a recent Q&A session with investors following their full-year earnings report, Take-Two's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, shared his "great optimism" for Nintendo's latest platform. He highlighted the improved support from Nintendo for third-party publishers this time around, a significant shift from past experiences.
Zelnick announced that Take-Two plans to launch four titles on the Nintendo Switch 2, marking a more substantial commitment to a new Nintendo platform than ever before. The lineup includes Civilization 7 on launch day, June 5, the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series (specific titles and release dates yet to be announced), and Borderlands 4 set for September 12. These choices are not surprising, as Take-Two has a history of releasing these franchises on the original Nintendo Switch. However, Zelnick's comments suggest that the door could be open for additional releases from Take-Two's extensive back catalog in the future. While GTA 6 may not be in the cards for the Switch 2, fans might hold out hope for the inclusion of GTA V down the line.
In a pre-investor call interview, Zelnick also touched on the development timeline of GTA 6 and discussed the recent delay of the game to next year, offering insights into Take-Two's broader strategic plans.
