Train Simulation Expands: Switzerland Joins Ticket to Ride

  • Switzerland and its neighboring countries join the game
  • Use country-to-country tickets to connect countries
  • The expansion adds two new characters

A route to Switzerland is now open in Ticket to Ride. Thanks to the new Switzerland expansion the digital strategy board game now features both country-to-country and city-to-country routes. Now, you can develop routes through Switzerland and its neighbouring countries as you build your railroad empire.

The Switzerland Expansion also introduces two new characters and four new tokens just in time for the holiday season. Developer Marmalade states they wanted to release a new expansion during the holiday season as a gift to Ticket to Ride fans. Not only does the expansion offer new locations, it also adds new mechanics. These new routes will require you to reevaluate your strategy as you work to build a thriving railroad empire. According to the developer, the expansion is designed for both new players and experts alike and encourages a dynamic play style.

Country-to-country tickets require you to connect a country to another one that’s shown on the ticket. You’ll have multiple options on each of these tickets. For instance, you may have the option of connecting France to Germany, Italy, or Austria, each offering a different number of points for completion.

Every country has a specific number of nodes available, so you’ll need to make quick strategic plans to get the most important routes set up. City-to-Country tickets were quite the same, except you'll be connecting a city to a country, as the name suggests.

Upon completing around, you’ll receive points based on each ticket’s highest-scoring completed connection. If you don't manage to make any connections for a ticket, you’ll lose points in the amount of the lowest value on the ticket.

The Switzerland Expansion is available now on Google Play, the App Store, and Steam and is coming soon to PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox. To learn more about Ticket to Ride and keep up with all the latest news, follow MarmaladeGames on  Facebook and Instagram.
