Assassin's Creed: Shadows' New Gameplay Details Unveiled: Yasuke and Naoe's Progression
Ubisoft has published a detailed article highlighting the gameplay mechanics of Assassin's Creed: Shadows, concentrating on the equipment and progression systems for the playable characters, Yasuke and Naoe. A significant improvement to the iconic Hidden Blade is also featured.
Each character boasts a unique skill tree reflecting their individual fighting style. Yasuke specializes in samurai combat, while Naoe utilizes shinobi techniques. Skill points earned through gameplay can be invested in unlocking weapon-specific abilities or enhancing combat styles. Players accumulate mastery points by completing open-world tasks or overcoming challenging enemies, such as Daisyo samurai.
A balanced progression system ensures both characters advance at a similar pace, preventing one from outpacing the other. Unlocking powerful abilities often requires specific actions, such as tracking down a clandestine shinobi organization. Other upgrades are linked to the "Knowledge" system, which progresses through scholarly pursuits like studying ancient texts or performing rituals at shrines. Reaching the sixth Knowledge rank unlocks a new skill tree.
Ubisoft also showcased the equipment system, featuring five distinct quality tiers: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Gear can be enhanced at a blacksmith and customized aesthetically. Armor and weapon perks can drastically alter gameplay.
The Hidden Blade returns as a potent assassination tool, capable of instantly eliminating enemies with a single, precise strike.
Assassin's Creed: Shadows launches worldwide on March 20th for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
