Leveling Up in Persona 5 Royal: A Comprehensive Guide to Rapid XP Gain

Leveling up is crucial in Persona 5 Royal, ensuring smooth progress and preventing tedious grinding. This guide details efficient methods for maximizing experience point (XP) gain, incorporating new features from Persona 5 Royal.

I. Boosting XP with Accessories and Confidants

  • Team Glasses: Equip the free DLC Team Glasses accessory to all party members for a 15% XP boost. Remember, only active party members receive full XP.

  • Mishima Yuuki's Confidant (Moon Arcana): Reaching Rank 3 and 5 in Mishima's Confidant grants backup party members increasing XP. Rank 10 provides them with the same XP as front-line fighters. Remember to choose dialogue options he likes and bring a Moon Arcana Persona. Completing Mishima's Mementos missions is essential for Confidant progression.

II. Mementos Optimization: Jose and Cognition

  • Jose's Shop: Jose, a new character in P5R, allows you to modify Mementos' rewards. Exchange collected flowers and stamps for increased XP gain (up to 200%). Maximizing XP requires 85 stamps. Stamp Stations are found in Mementos dead ends.

III. Conquering the Reaper for Massive XP

  • Reaper Encounters: The Reaper, a formidable foe, appears in Mementos after extended stays on a floor. Defeating him yields substantial XP and money.

  • Optimal Level: Aim for level 60 or higher before challenging the Reaper. Utilize defensive support skills and Makarakarn to reflect his magic attacks. Alternatively, Izanagi-no-Okami (Picaro) with Concentrate, Heat Riser, and Myriad Truths can deal significant damage.

IV. Treasure Demons: A Quick XP Source

  • Treasure Demon Encounters: Treasure Demons are non-hostile Shadows found in Palaces (especially with high security). They flee after a few turns.

  • Efficient Defeat: Use Shinya's Rank 1 ability, Down Shot, for an All-Out Attack or a high-crit attack (like Morgana's Miracle Punch, if not nullified). Crafting the Treasure Trap infiltration tool increases encounter rates. Requires 2 Silk Yarn, 3 Plant Balm, and 1 Cork Bark.

V. Utilizing Persona Passive Skills: Growth

  • Growth Skill: Unequipped Personas with the Growth passive skill earn XP even when inactive. Growth 1 (¼ XP), Growth 2 (½ XP), and Growth 3 (full XP) exist.

Growth Skill

  • Obtaining Growth: Several Personas learn Growth naturally. The Electric Chair in the Velvet Room can fuse some into Skill Cards, though options are limited in P5R compared to P5. Growth 2 can be obtained by visiting Justine and Caroline at Miura Beach (September 2nd-29th, after event 6).

VI. Ryuji Sakamoto's Confidant: Insta-Kill

  • Insta-Kill: Unlock Insta-Kill at Ryuji's Confidant Rank 7. This allows instant defeat of Shadows 10 levels below Joker's level (providing XP, items, and yen). Use Joker's Third Eye to identify targetable Shadows (green outline).

By strategically employing these methods, you can efficiently level up your team in Persona 5 Royal, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable gameplay experience.
