Unveiled: Pokémon TCG Pocket's New "Promo Card 8" Revealed

by Joshua Jan 12,2025

For completionists playing Pokémon TCG Pocket, the Promo Card section is usually a satisfyingly short list to complete. However, the enigmatic Promo Card 008 is currently causing frustration.

The Appearance of Promo Card 008

The Promo Card section appeared complete until January 2025, when a new, unobtainable card, Promo Card 008, suddenly appeared between Professor Oak (007) and Pikachu (009). While its existence might have been present earlier, it only recently became visible as a blank slot in the Promo – A Card Dex. Players are eager to learn how to acquire this elusive card.

What is Promo Card 008?

Although currently unobtainable, investigating the "Related Cards" section (accessible by clicking cards like Red Card 006 or Pokedex 004) reveals a preview of Promo Card 008. It's an alternate art Pokedex featuring Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.

The card's information states it will be "obtained from a campaign," similar to the New Year 2025 Pikachu card (Promo 026). This differs from cards acquired through missions or Wonder Pick events, suggesting a promotional giveaway.

The exact timing and method of acquiring Promo Card 008 remain unknown, but hopefully, players will be able to fill this gap soon. In the meantime, the option to hide unowned cards can alleviate the visual disruption.

Pokémon TCG Pocket is available now on mobile devices.
