The release of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been delayed once again, now set to launch in October 2025. This latest delay, though smaller compared to previous schedule changes, was announced in a recent game update video by publisher Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room. The new release date is a few months later than the previously planned launch in the first half of the year, but it comes with the reassurance that the game itself is complete.
“The status of the game right now is that the game is done,” stated Marco Behrmann, Executive Producer of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. “We are currently focusing on bug fixing, stability, and performance so that we can deliver the best experience to you guys once it releases.”
While this latest schedule adjustment adds to the series of delays fans have faced over the years, the update video offers some encouraging news. The Chinese Room has added more content, increased narrative depth, and enhanced character development since the last major update. Additionally, they promise that the character Fabien will have an “evolved role” in the storyline upon launch. However, despite regular development diaries keeping fans informed, a post on the official Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 X/Twitter page indicated that future updates will be less frequent.
Even those only marginally familiar with Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 are aware of the narrative-driven vampire game's numerous setbacks over the past decade. Initially unveiled in 2019 by developer Hardsuit Labs with a planned release in Q1 2020, the game faced its first delay to late 2020. Subsequent delays pushed the release to 2021, and in March 2021, Hardsuit Labs announced further delays alongside layoffs. A significant change came in 2023 when Hardsuit Labs was replaced by Still Wakes the Deep developer The Chinese Room, aiming for a 2024 release. Now, after one more delay, the game is slated for an October 2025 launch.
Given the history of delays, there's uncertainty about whether the sequel to the 2004 cult-classic video game will successfully launch this fall. However, The Chinese Room appears confident in their current progress. Meanwhile, Paradox has hinted that, should Bloodlines 2 achieve a successful release, “someone else” will be tasked with developing Bloodlines 3.
