Vinland Tales: A New Isometric Survival Experience from Colossi Games

Colossi Games, creators of Gladiators: Survival in Rome and Daisho: Survival of a Samurai, have launched their latest casual survival game, Vinland Tales. This new title transports players to the frigid north, where they assume the role of a Viking chieftain establishing a colony in uncharted territory.

Fans of Colossi's previous work will find familiar elements in Vinland Tales. The game utilizes an isometric viewpoint, low-poly visuals, and a relatively relaxed approach to survival mechanics. Gameplay centers around colony building, clan management, and resource gathering.

Beyond the core survival loop, Vinland Tales offers a wealth of additional features. Minigames, guilds, talent trees, quests, and dungeons provide ample content. Cooperative multiplayer allows players to team up with friends and conquer the challenges together.

My main concern with Vinland Tales is Colossi Games' rapid release schedule. Their ambition to explore diverse settings and historical periods is evident, but this raises questions about potential sacrifices in depth. The game's success hinges on whether it carves out a unique niche or falls short due to a lack of substance.
