Conquer the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide

Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord found in Oakheart Highcourt within the Rinascita region. This guide details how to defeat this formidable foe.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze, specifically the central structure beneath the giant tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Players can climb the walls or utilize the Flight function to reach it.

The Lifer Board Game

Inside, you'll find the Lifer near a six-piece board game. The goal is to connect three of your (black) pieces before the Lifer (white) does. Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens walls and gates in that direction. You can exit and re-enter the game, preserving piece positions. While not mandatory for the fight, the board game is crucial for buff removal. Avoid winning before debuffing the Lifer, as it will immediately attack.

Removing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer possesses seven buffs; four are removable using the Stake of Imbalance, while three are permanent. These buffs are visible on a yellow module behind the Lifer.

Removable Buffs (using Stake of Imbalance):

  • Growing Loneliness: Recovers 10% Max HP per second after 2s without being attacked.
  • Desire for Escape: Increases ATK by 25%, further increasing DMG by 25% every 20s.
  • Impending Stalemate: Increases ATK by 20% per DMG instance (stacks to 4). Stacks reset after 6s without dealing DMG.
  • Decay of Time: Grants 200% resistance to all elemental types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc) and increases Max HP by 25%.

Permanent Buffs:

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: Reduces Immobilization duration by 50%.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP in a single hit.

Obtaining Stakes of Imbalance:

Use the Sensor tool near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the gates to these rooms. Each room contains a Stake of Imbalance (marked by a white glow), often requiring minor challenges (defeating Tacet Discords, breaking rocks). Place each Stake in the module near the corresponding winged statue to remove a buff. The purple line turns yellow once a buff is removed.

Defeating the Lifer

After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer. Winning the board game or selecting "Fight it out!" initiates combat. The debuffed Lifer is significantly weaker. Its attacks pose minimal threat.

Rewards for defeating the Lifer include Premium and Basic/Standard/Advanced Supply Chests, varying by the number of times defeated. You can re-enable buffs for a greater challenge, though no achievements are tied to this.

Lifer Achievements:

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Defeat the Lifer three times (all nine chests).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.

For the board game, focus on blocking the Lifer's attempts to create a line. It will eventually make a mistake.
