Star Wars: Hunter to End in 2025, Last Update Coming Soon

by Bella May 05,2025

Star Wars: Hunters, Zynga's first foray into the iconic franchise, is set to close its doors just over a year after its launch on iOS and Android. The game, which debuted in June 2024, quickly captured attention with its unique blend of game show aesthetics and fresh takes on Star Wars archetypes.

It has been officially announced that Star Wars: Hunters will shut down on October 1st of this year. A final content update is scheduled for April 15th. In light of the closure, players can now request refunds for in-game currency, and certain seasonal events will be rerun as part of an extended third season.

Fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of the final hunter, Tuya, will still have the opportunity to play with them in multiplayer. Tuya will be introduced in the final content update and will be available to all players for free from the start.

The End of the Journey

The announcement of Star Wars: Hunters' closure came as a surprise, especially since there were few signs that the game was underperforming. Given Zynga's robust position in the industry, the decision to shelve the game suggests there might be deeper reasons at play.

One possible explanation could be the oversaturation of the pseudo-hero shooter genre, coupled with a target audience that may not align well with the game's fast-paced multiplayer experience. The average Star Wars fanbase is skewing older, and they might not be the demographic seeking such high-octane gameplay on their mobile devices.

For those who haven't yet tried Star Wars: Hunters, there's still time to experience it before it's gone. Be sure to check out our tier list of Hunters in SW: Hunters, ranked by class, to get the most out of your gameplay before the shutdown.
