Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Update Reverses Controversial Zombies Change

Treyarch has addressed player concerns regarding recent changes to Black Ops 6's Zombies mode, specifically the Directed Mode. A recent update reverses a controversial adjustment to zombie spawn delays, restoring the previous 20-second maximum delay after five looped rounds.

The January 3rd update, which introduced Directed Mode to Citadelle des Morts, significantly extended the time between rounds and zombie spawns, hindering kill farming and camo challenge completion. This sparked considerable backlash from the community. Treyarch acknowledged the negative reception, stating the change was "not fun."

The January 9th patch notes confirm the reversal of the spawn delay change. In addition to this key reversal, the update includes various bug fixes for Citadelle des Morts Directed Mode, addressing issues with quest progression, visual effects, and crashes related to the Void Sheath Augment for Aether Shroud.

Furthermore, the Shadow Rift Ammo Mod received substantial buffs:

  • Normal enemy activation rate increased to 20% (from 15%).
  • Special enemy activation rate increased to 7% (from 5%).
  • Elite enemy activation rate (with Big Game Augment) increased to 7% (from 5%).
  • Cooldown timer decreased by 25%.

These changes aim to make Shadow Rift a more powerful and enjoyable Ammo Mod.

The patch also includes global fixes addressing issues with Maya's "Joyride" skin visibility, UI glitches in the Events tab, and audio problems with event milestone banners. Multiplayer received stability fixes and increased XP rewards for Red Light, Green Light. The Dead Light, Green Light LTM now features Liberty Falls and a 20-round cap.

Treyarch notes that further bug fixes, including the Vermin double-attack bug, are slated for the Season 2 update on January 28th. Players are encouraged to complete the Citadelle des Morts main quest before Season 1 Reloaded concludes.
