Marvel Rivals mods with Trump and Biden removed, Nexus Mods owner threatened

Nexus Mods faces backlash after removing political Marvel Rivals mods. The platform removed modifications replacing Captain America's head with images of both Joe Biden and Donald Trump, sparking controversy.

Nexus Mods' owner, TheDarkOne, clarified on Reddit that both mods were removed simultaneously to prevent accusations of partisanship. Despite this, TheDarkOne reports receiving threats and abuse following the removals.

“We removed the Biden mod the same day as the Trump mod to avoid bias. Yet, YouTube commentators remain strangely silent on this,” TheDarkOne stated. The owner further revealed a surge in harassment, including death threats and accusations of pedophilia.

This isn't the first time Nexus Mods has faced criticism over mod removals. A previous incident in 2022 saw the removal of a Spider-Man Remastered mod that replaced rainbow flags with American flags. At the time, the platform publicly supported inclusivity and stated its commitment to removing content that undermines diversity.

TheDarkOne concluded, “We won't engage with those who find this objectionable.”
