Monster Hunter Wilds Minimum Required Specs Will Be Lowered

Monster Hunter Wilds staff just released a pre-launch community update video, detailing console specs, weapon adjustments, and more. Read on to find out if your PC or console can run the game, and more behind the scenes updates!

Monster Hunter Wilds Aims To Lower Minimum PC Specs

Console Performance Targets Revealed

Monster Hunter Wilds confirmed that it will provide a patch that will be available for the PS5 Pro upon launch next year. In a pre-launch community update stream yesterday, December 19th, at 9AM EST / 6AM PST, several Monster Hunter Wilds staff including director Yuya Tokuda came together to discuss the improvement and adjustments coming to the full game launch after the Open Beta Test (OBT) was concluded.

Firstly, they revealed the target performance values for the game on consoles. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions will have two modes, namely Prioritize Graphics and Prioritize Framerate. Prioritizing graphics will make the game run on 4K resolution but on 30fps, while prioritizing framerate brings a 1080p resolution with 60fps. On the other hand, Xbox Series S will natively only have 1080p resolution with 30fps. Additionally, a rendering bug was fixed in the Framerate mode and improved performance has been observed.

However, there were no concrete details on how it will run on the PS5 Pro other than it will bring enhanced graphics and that it will be available as soon as the game launches.

For PCs, it will greatly vary depending on the user’s hardware and settings. PC specs have already been previously revealed, but the team shared that they are working on lowering the minimum required specs to cater to a wider audience. Specific details are still under wraps and will be announced as the release date nears. Additionally, Capcom is considering releasing a PC benchmark tool as well.

They have also shared that they are considering another open beta test, but it’s only "purely another chance for players who missed it the first time around to get a chance to try the game" with some new additional options to try. All changes discussed in the stream will not be present in this hypothetical 2nd open beta, and will only be present on full release copies.

Other topics they tackled in the livestream was on the adjustment of hitstop and sound effects to feel more "weighty and impactful," as well as the mitigation of friendly fire and tweaks and improvements to all weapons with special highlights on the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance, among others.

Monster Hunter Wilds is slated for release on February 28th, 2025, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
