In Monster Hunter Wilds, Every Weapon Has Its Own Unique Design - IGN First

Concerns about weapon design similarity in Monster Hunter: Wilds, following criticism of Monster Hunter: World, have been addressed by Director Yuya Tokuda. Tokuda clarified that unlike World, where weapon appearances were primarily customized based on monster materials, Wilds features uniquely designed weapons.

PlayThis directly contrasts with Monster Hunter: World's approach, where many weapon lines, even at their highest upgrade levels, retained significant visual similarities. The image below illustrates this point, showcasing the resemblance between certain upgraded weapons in World.

This information was revealed during a discussion about Wilds' new approach to starting weapons and the Hope series armor and weapons, which includes previously unseen concept art. Further details can be found in interviews covering the Oilwell Basin, its inhabitants, and the Apex monster, Nu Udra.

Monster Hunter: Wilds launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 28th. IGN First will feature additional exclusive content throughout January, including 4K gameplay videos showcasing hunts of Ajarakan and Rompopolo, an interview detailing the series' evolution, and insights into the game's food system.
