Nintendo App Unveils Legend of Zelda Movie Release Date

Nintendo has officially announced that the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda will hit theaters on March 26, 2027. This exciting news broke through the newly released Nintendo Today! app, which was showcased during the Nintendo Direct in March 2025. Miyamoto emphasized its utility by noting that following the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, users can log into the app to stay up-to-date with daily news and developments. The collaboration between Nintendo and Sony Pictures for the live-action The Legend of Zelda was first revealed in November 2023, with Wes Ball, known for directing The Maze Runner and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, at the helm. Avi Arad and Shigeru Miyamoto are set to produce this ambitious project. While details about the movie remain scarce, Ball has expressed his vision of creating a "live action Miyazaki," drawing inspiration from the renowned filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki and his iconic works like My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, and Spirited Away.
