Project Mugen now has an official name and teaser trailer as NetEase shows off Ananta

by Finn Jan 22,2025

NetEase Games and Naked Rain's Project Mugen is officially titled Ananta, and a new trailer reveals more about this urban, open-world RPG. The teaser showcases the game's vast cityscape, Nova City, diverse characters, and the looming threat of chaotic forces.

A preview video offers a closer look at Ananta's story, characters, and world. While comparisons to MiHoYo's titles, particularly Zenless Zone Zero, are inevitable, Ananta features unique movement mechanics that set it apart. The game combines charming characters with dynamic combat, a popular formula in 3D RPGs.

The trailer highlights impressive movement capabilities. Whether this translates to seamless traversal across Nova City's streets and rooftops remains to be seen. While similarities to MiHoYo's Genshin Impact exist, Ananta aims to carve its own niche in the 3D gacha RPG market. Its success hinges on its ability to stand out from the competition and potentially challenge the reigning champions.
