The Sims 1 and 2 Return to PC at Last Today via The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle

by Ethan Feb 21,2025

To celebrate The Sims franchise's 25th anniversary, EA and Maxis have delivered a fantastic surprise: The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 are back on PC! Available now are The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, sold individually or together in The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle for $40.

These releases include nearly all expansions and stuff packs for both games. The Sims 2: Legacy Collection notably omits the 2008 IKEA Home Stuff pack, but otherwise offers complete content. Both collections even include bonus content: The Sims 1 gets a Throwback Fit Kit, and The Sims 2 receives a Grunge Revival Kit.

This marks the first time in over a decade that both games have been readily accessible digitally. The Sims 1 was originally a disc-only release, making it difficult to obtain and run on modern systems. While The Sims 2 was briefly available through an Ultimate Collection on Origin, it was later removed. These new collections make all four main Sims titles easily purchasable digitally.

IGN originally awarded The Sims 1 a 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 an 8.5/10. Despite the series' advancements, the originals remain worthwhile for their charm, straightforward gameplay, challenging aspects, and historical significance.

The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are currently available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the EA app.
