Spider-Man 2 Swings to PC in January 2025

Marvel's Spider-Man 2: A Web-Slinging Arrival on PC in January 2025

Get ready, web-heads! Marvel's Spider-Man 2, the critically acclaimed PlayStation 5 title, is making its highly anticipated debut on PC on January 30th, 2025. This announcement, made during the Marvel Games showcase at New York Comic Con, follows the successful PC ports of Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales, and promises a thrilling experience for PC gamers.

Developed and optimized by Nixxes Software in close collaboration with Insomniac Games, PlayStation, and Marvel Games, the PC version boasts enhanced visuals and features. Expect ray tracing, ultrawide monitor support, and a range of graphical settings for optimal performance. While the immersive haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller won't be replicated, the keyboard and mouse controls promise a distinct and satisfying gameplay experience.

The PC release will include all previously released content updates, adding twelve new suits (including Symbiote Suit styles), New Game+ mode, "Ultimate Levels," new time-of-day options, post-game achievements, and enhanced Photo Mode features. The Digital Deluxe Edition will offer even more bonus content. However, Insomniac Games has confirmed that no new story content will be added to this version.

A PSN Account Requirement Casts a Shadow

While the PC port promises a fantastic experience, a significant drawback has emerged: the requirement of a PlayStation Network (PSN) account. This mirrors a concerning trend among recent PlayStation PC ports, effectively barring access for players in regions without PSN access—approximately 170 countries. This policy, absent in previous Spider-Man titles, raises questions about accessibility and user experience, particularly for single-player games.

Despite this hurdle, the arrival of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PC marks a significant step for Sony in expanding its reach beyond the PlayStation ecosystem. With all three Insomniac Spider-Man titles now available on PC, this strategy, while needing refinement, is a positive move for fans worldwide. Whether you're a veteran Spidey player or a newcomer, the January 2025 release date is one to circle on your calendar.

Game8 awarded Marvel's Spider-Man 2 an 88, praising it as a superb sequel to an already exceptional Spider-Man game. For a more in-depth review of the PS5 version, be sure to check out our full review [link to review - this would be added if this were a real article].
