Mobile gaming sensation Monopoly Go is partnering with Star Wars to add a sci-fi twist to its property-trading dice game. Announced today at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, this collaboration runs from May 1 to July 2 and draws inspiration from the Skywalker Saga and The Mandalorian.
Along with giving iconic Star Wars characters a charming cartoon touch-up, the Star Wars season in Monopoly Go introduces a Star Wars Go sticker album to complete, podracing in the Mos Espa Grand Arena, and exclusive in-game collectibles like tokens, shields, and emojis. You'll also see the surreal sight of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Han Solo, R2-D2, Yoda, Anakin Skywalker, and Qui-Gon Jinn interacting with Mr. Monopoly, also known as Rich Uncle Pennybags.
This isn’t Monopoly Go’s first crossover—last September, Marvel characters joined the fun, with Spider-Man, Wolverine, and the Avengers all making appearances.
Publisher Scopely also recently acquired the Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom, and Monster Hunter Now teams through a deal with Niantic.
As reported by our sister site GamesIndustry.biz, Monopoly Go was the top game for consumer spending in 2024, generating an eye-watering $2.47 billion jackpot—enough for gold toilets across the team. Scopely also reported 150 million downloads and 10 million daily active users for the year.
