Discover the power of audio-visual lessons tailored for evangelism and foundational Bible teaching with our comprehensive app, developed in collaboration with the Africa Inland Church, Sudan. Based on the renowned Sunday School Lessons from the AIC Sunday School Committee in Juba, Southern Sudan, and adapted for general use by Global Recordings Network Australia, this app is an essential tool for engaging young learners in their spiritual journey.
Our app features an extensive collection of 226 Bible lessons, thoughtfully organized into 9 books. These lessons draw from the highly effective Good News and Look, Listen, and Live audio-visual programs produced by Global Recordings Network, which are also accessible through the 5fish app. Each lesson is designed to be complemented by the corresponding audio-visual picture books available from Global Recordings Network, making the learning experience both immersive and impactful.
Originally crafted in response to young volunteers seeking guidance for teaching in Sunday School, these lessons have been fine-tuned to meet the needs of educators. The visual aids provided with each lesson are crucial, enhancing the understanding and retention of the material among children aged 7 to 12.
Key app features include:
- Title search for easy navigation through the lessons
- Detailed teacher instructions for each lesson, ensuring effective delivery
- Ability to play English audio recordings for each lesson story, enriching the learning experience
- Display of corresponding pictures for each lesson story, aiding visual learners
- Offline functionality (except for audio), allowing for use in various settings without internet access
Each lesson is structured to last approximately twenty minutes, focusing on a concise yet comprehensive teaching session. The remaining time in the Sunday School schedule, which may include singing, prayer, Bible reading, quizzes, and other activities, is left for teachers to plan creatively. We encourage ending each lesson with a short prayer and a song that ties back to the week's teaching, reinforcing the lesson's message.
When initially tested, the lessons were written out weekly in exercise books, keeping them purposefully brief. While some lessons have since been expanded, the core idea remains to provide a foundational outline for teachers to build upon during their preparation. Each story begins with an aim, guiding the focus of the lesson. Recognizing that children's understanding develops gradually, the lessons are designed to introduce one or two key truths about God per session, allowing for progressive spiritual growth.
The lessons serve as a guide for teachers, acting as a "walking stick" rather than a "pair of crutches," encouraging active engagement rather than passive reading. This approach ensures that teachers can adapt the material to suit their class's needs and dynamics effectively.
