Marvel Rivals May Be Headed to Nintendo Switch 2

by Thomas Mar 15,2025

Once dismissed as impossible, Marvel Rivals on the Nintendo Switch 2 now seems increasingly likely. NetEase previously rejected a release on the original Switch due to technical limitations, but the upcoming console could change everything.

At the DICE Summit, producer Weikang Wu revealed ongoing discussions with Nintendo. The key challenge remains ensuring smooth performance on the new hardware:

"The first-generation Switch simply didn’t have the power to deliver the gameplay experience we envisioned. But if the Switch 2 can handle it, we’re absolutely ready to bring the game to the platform."

Game director Thaddeus Sasser previously confirmed no immediate plans for a mobile version or original Switch release. A Switch 2 port would necessitate a custom build optimized for the console's capabilities.

With the Nintendo Switch 2 officially announced, major publishers are expressing strong interest. Phil Spencer hinted at Xbox bringing its games to the platform, and Electronic Arts (EA) has also shown support.

Meanwhile, Marvel Rivals continues to expand, with the Fantastic Four's addition expected in future updates.
