Microsoft Will Soon Integrate its Copilot AI Into the Xbox App — and Eventually Into Your Xbox Games

by Adam Mar 21,2025

Microsoft's AI Copilot is expanding its reach, preparing to integrate with Xbox to enhance the gaming experience. This exciting development will soon be available for Xbox Insiders via the Xbox mobile app. Copilot, Microsoft's AI chatbot (successor to Cortana), already integrated into Windows, brings several gaming-focused features. You can request game installations, check your play history, achievements, and library, and even get game recommendations—all through voice commands.

Direct interaction with Copilot for Gaming within the Xbox app during gameplay is also a key feature. It will provide answers and information in a similar manner to its Windows counterpart. A significant aspect of Copilot's launch is its role as a gaming assistant. Similar to its PC functionality, you can ask questions about gameplay, such as how to overcome a boss battle or solve a puzzle. Copilot will then leverage Bing to search various online resources, including guides, websites, wikis, and forums, providing you with relevant answers. This functionality will soon be available on the Xbox app.

Microsoft is actively exploring further applications for Copilot in gaming. Future possibilities include walkthrough assistance, item tracking, real-time strategy suggestions for competitive games, and post-engagement analysis. While these are currently under development, Microsoft emphasizes its commitment to deeply integrating Copilot into the Xbox gaming experience, collaborating with both first-party and third-party studios.

Regarding data privacy, Microsoft confirms that during the Xbox Insider preview, users can opt out of Copilot's features and control data access. However, the possibility of Copilot becoming mandatory in the future remains open. Microsoft emphasizes transparency regarding data collection and usage, assuring users of their choices regarding personal data sharing.

Beyond player-centric applications, Microsoft will present its plans for developer utilization of Copilot at the Game Developers Conference next week.
