Max has unveiled the official trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, intensifying its Superman ties by featuring Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner in the opening sequence.
The trailer introduces Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl conducting what appears to be a superhero team interview with John Cena's Peacemaker. The exchange quickly goes south, leaving a frustrated Peacemaker storming out.
These character appearances offer our first proper glimpse at supporting roles from James Gunn's upcoming Superman film.
Achieving peace is a team effort.
Season ✌️ of #Peacemaker is streaming August 21 on Max.
Peacemaker Season 2 premieres August 21, following Superman's July 11 debut as the third DCU installment after Creature Commandos launched the franchise last year.
Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran's rebooted universe moves beyond the controversial DCEU (which included Justice League and Batman v Superman), though certain elements will persist.
Peacemaker exemplifies this transition - Season 1 existed within the defunct DCEU while Season 2 joins the new DCU continuity.
Gunn has stated that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes", though the exact DCEU elements transitioning to DCU remain unclear. The entire core cast returns, including John Cena as Peacemaker alongside Frank Grillo's Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma's Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks' Leota Adebayo.
The show's events will now chronologically follow both Creature Commandos and Superman, with Superman's storyline directly impacting Peacemaker's narrative.
