Conquering Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana progressively introduces challenging bosses, enhancing player mastery of game mechanics. While not excessively long, the game features several formidable encounters. Gyalva, Lord of the Blazing Prison, requires a solid understanding of combat, abilities, and game mechanics.

Defeating Gyalva

  • Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
  • Health (Normal): 1200

Following Guilen's defeat, players advance through the Zone of Lava to face Gyalva. Strategic positioning is key: fight from either end of the bridge. Limited movement options and the unstable bridge necessitate quick attacks and strategic retreats. Utilize wind magic for maximum damage output in short bursts.

Understanding Gyalva's Attacks

Gyalva, a unique boss not present in the original Ys III, possesses diverse attacks capable of inflicting significant damage. He maneuvers across the bridge, disrupting platforms with fiery assaults. Sufficient character upgrades (aim for level 21) and equipment enhancements are recommended.

Spinning Attacks

Gyalva employs two spinning attacks: a localized attack targeting a bridge section and a full-bridge sweep. The localized attack requires lateral movement to avoid the airborne platforms. The full sweep necessitates retreating to the bridge's ledges. Avoid the very edge to prevent cornering. Strategically move along the bridge, attacking Gyalva before retreating to safety.

Fire Blast

Gyalva launches fireballs, launching bridge sections into the air. While damaging, this attack presents an opportunity to land multiple hits.

Bursting Torches

Torches along the bridge sporadically erupt in flames, accompanied by a fireball exchange. The timing is unpredictable, but after a burst subsides, the area becomes safe to traverse.
