With the release of Days Gone Remastered on the horizon, Sony's Bend Studio has unveiled a suite of new accessibility features designed to enhance the gaming experience for all players. In a recent PlayStation Blog post, Kevin McAllister, the Creative & Product Lead at Bend Studio, detailed these enhancements, spotlighting the innovative Game Speed option. This feature allows players to adjust the game's speed to 75%, 50%, or even 25% of the normal rate, catering especially to those who may find high-pressure situations challenging. "Game Speed is ideal for players who might feel overwhelmed in certain situations or have difficulty with various inputs in high pressure moments, specifically fighting off hordes of Freakers," McAllister explained. He emphasized that with the introduction of the new Horde Assault mode in the remaster, this adjustment aims to make the intense combat experience more accessible.
Beyond Game Speed, Days Gone Remastered will also include a variety of other accessibility options. Players can customize subtitle colors, enable a High Contrast Mode, turn on UI Narration, and benefit from Collectible Audio Cues. Additionally, the auto-complete QTE feature, previously exclusive to Easy difficulty, will now be available across all difficulty settings, from Easy to Survival II.
While these enhancements are set to debut in Days Gone Remastered, Bend Studio has also confirmed that most of these new accessibility features will make their way to the PC version of Days Gone. However, certain features like feedback and control customization will require a compatible controller.
Days Gone Remastered was officially announced in February, promising not only these accessibility improvements but also an enhanced photo mode, permadeath and speedrun options, among other enhancements. This remaster of the 2019 post-apocalyptic zombie action-adventure game, centered around a biker navigating a world overrun by Freakers, is set to launch on April 25, 2025. Owners of the PS4 version of Days Gone can upgrade to the PS5 remastered version for just $10, making it an attractive proposition for existing fans eager to experience the game with these new features.
