App Army Tested: "Mind-bending Puzzler Challenges Limits"

by Emily Jan 17,2025

This week, Pocket Gamer's App Army tackled the puzzle adventure A Fragile Mind from Glitch Games. The game, a twist on the classic escape room formula with added humor, received a mixed but generally positive response.

Some App Army members lauded the challenging yet engaging puzzles and witty writing, while others felt the presentation could be improved.

Here's a summary of their feedback:

Diverse Opinions on A Fragile Mind

Swapnil Jadhav initially dismissed the game based on its seemingly outdated logo, but was pleasantly surprised by its unique gameplay and challenging puzzles. He highly recommends playing it on a tablet.

Max Williams described the game as a point-and-click adventure with static pre-rendered graphics. While enjoying the clever puzzles (which he found satisfying once solved), he noted some navigational confusion and readily available hints. Despite these minor drawbacks, he found it a strong example of the genre.

Robert Maines found the puzzles difficult, requiring occasional walkthrough consultation. He appreciated the gameplay but noted the graphics and sound were unremarkable, and the game lacked replayability.

Torbjörn Kämblad, however, was less impressed. He criticized the muddy presentation, hindering puzzle visibility, and an inconveniently placed menu button. He also felt the pacing was off, with too many puzzles accessible from the start.

A complex-looking door

Mark Abukoff, who usually avoids puzzle games due to their difficulty, enjoyed A Fragile Mind. He praised the aesthetic, atmosphere, intriguing puzzles, and helpful hint system.

Diane Close likened the game's experience to waking up disoriented near an abandoned circus, highlighting the abundance of puzzles and the need for note-taking. She enjoyed the humor and found the game well-designed for both visual and auditory accessibility. She completed it in about an hour.
