REPO's development team has unveiled their roadmap, featuring innovative additions like a "duck bucket" to neutralize the game's notorious avian threat. Discover their planned updates and learn what Lethal Company's creator thinks about this emerging horror experience.
REPO's Update Preview
Containment Solution for The Duck
The first major update introduces a new containment system alongside a fresh map. Semiwork Studios shared these developments through a YouTube video released March 15th.
REPO is a cooperative horror experience supporting six players, where teams must carefully retrieve items from terrifying environments. The game's most unpredictable element is The Apex Predator - a seemingly harmless yellow duck that transforms into a monstrous predator when disturbed, attacking players relentlessly for ten seconds before reverting.
The upcoming "duck bucket" provides a strategic solution to contain this threat, preventing accidental activations by teammates. The update will also introduce enhanced character expressions and various quality-of-life enhancements.
"The Museum" Map and Social Features
Semiwork Studios announced a challenging new environment called "The Museum," designed to test players' parkour abilities. This map will feature clearly marked extraction boundaries to help teams identify valid exit points.
The developers are also implementing public lobbies based on player feedback. "While most players support matchmaking with public/private options and a kick function, implementing these requires complex server-side coding - a new challenge for our team," explained the developers. Due to these technical hurdles, this feature may experience delays.
Lethal Company Creator's Perspective
Since its February release, REPO has drawn comparisons to Lethal Company for its similar cooperative horror mechanics. On March 15th, Zeekers offered constructive feedback via Twitter/X.
The creator noted: "REPO delivers unique fun. While initial movement felt sluggish (and voice chat range too limited), the teamwork required to maneuver a grand piano through haunted hallways creates brilliant horror comedy." He expanded his thoughts, suggesting voice chat improvements and noting that tight spaces like the mansion showcase the game's strengths better than expansive areas.
Responding to player concerns about stealth enemies, Zeekers added: "The game needs better enemy behavior tutorials, though I'm certain the developers have this on their roadmap."
Currently available only on PC, REPO has rapidly climbed Steam's charts, becoming the platform's second best-seller behind Counter-Strike 2. With over 230,645 simultaneous players (approaching Lethal Company's peak), this horror phenomenon continues growing. For ongoing REPO coverage, check our related articles below!
